A Quick Look at Rock Hill

Rock Hill got its start in 1852 as a small depot and watering stop on the Charlotte and South Carolina Railroad, and it was officially incorporated in 1892. A different state authority, right across the line

South Carolina doesn’t use the NC Fire Prevention Code — commercial kitchens here fall under the South Carolina Fire Code, based on the International Fire Code and enforced through the SC State Fire Marshal’s Office alongside the local fire department, in this case the City of Rock Hill. Like North Carolina, it incorporates NFPA 96 as the technical standard for exhaust system cleaning and fire suppression, but the inspection process and paperwork run through a different state authority — which is why documentation matters even more when a kitchen sits close to the state line.
